Our Learning Focus for the Week of April 10th
Math: We will begin our unit on shapes. Students will be asked to recognize and draw solid shapes like triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and cubes. Students will also focus on identifying the number of sides and angles for each type of shape.
Reading/Language Arts: We will conclude our unit on multi-paragraph texts. Students will ask and answer questions to understand key details of the texts. Students will also identify the main topic and the author's purpose for the multi-paragraph texts.
Phonics - Unit 20 Regular Plurals
spices, apples, dishes, classes, watches, ponies, cities
Writing: Classmate Biography & Opinion Writing
Students will finish publishing their classmate biography. Students will also begin an opinion piece about Jimmy Carter.
Science: We will begin our unit on plant life cycles. We will also review shadows.
STEM - We will begin to learn about plant life cycles by planting in clear cups. We will observe root systems and plant growth over the next few weeks.
We will also review how shadows form and change.
Social Studies: We will continue to learn about Jimmy Carter. Students will use what they have learned about him to create their opinion piece.
