Our Learning Focus for the Week of September 19th - 23rd
Math: This week we will continue addition and subtraction one step word problems within 20. We will expand into money word problems and review the values of each coin.
Writing: We will continue our unit on Personal Narratives. We will finish revising and editing our Small Moment stories. We will finish publishing our first story.
Phonics: We will practice the Long E Digraph Syllable Pattern
dream, feel, yield, cream, wheel, field, greedy, increase, relief
Social Studies: We will continue learning about the Georgia Rivers (Ocmulgee, Oconee, Altamaha, Savannah, St. Mary’s, Chattahoochee, and
Flint.) We will also begin to learn about the Cherokee and Creek Native Americans.
Science: We review changes in matter. (solids, liquids, gases) We will explore physical vs. chemical changes.
STEM: We will conclude the Place Value Marshmallow Challenge and 3D Georgia Regions.
Reading/Language Arts: We will focus on Context Clues. We will use information gained from words and pictures.
Important Information
*We have our Guidance lesson on Tuesday and our ILC lesson on Wednesday this week.
*Wednesday we have a fire safety lesson with the Cobb County Fire Department in preparation for our upcoming field trip.
*Please return your conference time slip if you haven’t already. :)
*Just a reminder to log your nightly reading towards the 200 Book Club! 20 minutes of reading is a homework requirement.
*Rally Kickball Fundraiser*
We had an amazing Pep Rally today! The entire school is pumped up to support the Rally Childhood Cancer Foundation. Remember the game will be held at Walton High School on September 20th at 5pm. I hope to see you there!
