In order to get students excited, we are asking for everyone to wear their Tritt grade level shirts. Any Tritt shirt will do if you do not have a grade level shirt.
Also, we sent home Conference Forms today. Please check and see if the time and date will work, and return the bottom portion as soon as possible. If you have multiple students at Tritt, the teachers have met to make sure that we are sending home times that are on the same day and at a similar time.

This week we will be starting/continuing the following standards.
Math - MGSE2.OA.1 Word Problems Students will use the strategies they have learned to solve one step word problems within 20. Students will be asked to write what they understand, create a plan, show their strategy, and explain their mathematical thinking. Writing - Personal Narratives We will work to improve our personal narratives. Last week we worked on creating engaging hooks and solid closings. This week we will focus on improving our writing further. Social Studies - SS2G1 The student will locate major topographical features of Georgia and will describe how these features define Georgia’s surface. b. Locate the major rivers: Ocmulgee, Oconee, Altamaha, Savannah, St. Mary’s, Chattahoochee, and Flint. Science - S2P1. Students will investigate the properties of matter and changes that occur in objects. b. Investigate changes in objects by tearing, dissolving, melting, squeezing, etc. STEM - Seasons STEM - Tree Time Part 2 S2E2 Seasons - We will review seasonal changes of trees, length of day/night, and seasonal weather changes. Reading - ELAGSE2RI6: Identify the main purpose of a text, including what the author wants to answer, explain, or describe. We will identify the main idea within a multi-paragraph text. We will also review main idea in fiction. ELAGSE2L2: Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing. We will focus on compound words and contractions. We will examine the difference between contractions and possessive nouns. Please check in their agenda for their user name and password. This is a great resource to use at home to help with homework and extra practice. The Math Guides are also posted on the Tritt Website on the right side after you click on 2nd Grade. Finally, students are practicing for Level A on Rocket Math this week for homework. In class everyone will take the first assessment, and students will move at their own pace based on the number of questions they answer correctly. For our next STEM activity we will be using toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls. If you have any please send them in.

Tritt's annual school-wide collection contest is September 14th-18th! Please keep sending in all the box tops you have collected throughout the year. Contest ends Friday, September 18! Send the box tops in a ziptop bag labeled with STUDENT NAME, GRADE AND TEACHER. If you have lots of box tops, please package them in baggies of 50. Classes in each grade will compete to see who can collect the most box tops. The class in each grade that collects the most, wins an ice pop party! Questions???
