Writing - Informational Nonfiction Writing
This week we will complete our second informational writing piece. Students chose their own informational topic, and they used various online resources to complete research in the computer lab on their topic of choice. This week they will finish organizing their research and complete their rough draft and final draft.
Social Studies - SS2H1 The student will read about and describe the lives of historical figures in Georgia history. a. Identify the contributions made by these historic figures: Tomochichi, Sequoyah, and Mary Musgrove.
Students will select an American Hero to complete an informational project on.
Science - S2P3. Students will demonstrate changes in speed and direction using pushes and pulls. a. Demonstrate how pushing and pulling an object affects the motion of the object. b. Demonstrate the effects of changes of speed on an object.
Students will conclude our investigation in forces of motion.
STEM - Captain Planet Adopt a Plant - Fall Tree STEM Challenge
Students will create their fall trees this week. The week before break they conducted research on their tree and created plans.
Reading - We will focus on understanding the beginning, middle, and end within stories, adverbs, and mastering our CVVC AI, AY patterns.
ELAGSE2RL5: Describe the overall structure of a story including describing how the beginning introduces the story, the middle provides major events and challenges, and the ending concludes the action.
ELAGSE2L1: Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.
