Open House
Open house will be held on Thursday, August 13th at 6:00 p.m. At that time you will be given an overview of what your child’s second grade year is all about! The night will begin with a brief PTA meeting, and be followed by two sessions in the classroom. Here you will become familiar with our curriculum and better understand how we learn and what we’re learning in second grade.
Arrival/Dismissal
Student drop-off is not permitted before 7:15 a.m. School begins promptly at 7:55 a.m. If your child is a walker/car rider please have them at school with enough time to unpack and prepare for the day. If your child plans to take the bus occasionally please allow them to ride the first week of school to get used to the routine while there are extra volunteers helping them find their way.
If your child’s routine dismissal procedure changes please send a note in their orange communication folder. We must have a very clear understanding of dismissal intentions in writing. We can not depend on a verbal message delivered by your child. Also, we cannot accept an e-mail for dismissal changes as school policy states this is not allowed. You can send a fax to the front office with any changes that occur after your child is at school. Dismissal and absent forms can be found on the Tritt website.
Specials
Second Grade specials are from 10:35 – 11:15 each day. We will be on a 7 day rotation, and the August schedule is on the back of your child’s communication folder. I will post the specials calendar each month on my blog. Students must wear tennis shoes on PE days!
Lunch/Snack
We encourage each child to bring a quick and healthy snack daily. Please do not send drinks other than water. Your child can bring a water bottle to keep on their desk as long as it does not become a distraction.
We have lunch from 12:26 – 12:56. It is much easier for the school if you prepay for your child’s lunch, and this avoids lost money! Payments can be made online. If you choose to send your child’s lunch money in their folder, please seal the envelope and write his/her first and last name, teacher’s name, and lunch money.
Feel free to join us for lunch; however, it is best for your child if you do not come the first week of school while they are still getting used to our routines. Please do not bring any outside food into the school. If you would like to eat with your child meet us at the doors to the Tritt Café at our lunch time.
Daily Folder
Your child’s communication folder will come home everyday. This folder should be checked daily for notes, announcements, and incomplete work. Please use this folder for lunch money, transportation changes or notes for school and return it to school every morning in your child’s book bag.
Classroom Communication
Our classroom communication will be through our weekly blog. The blog will be updated on Fridays. Please check weekly to keep informed of important happenings in our classroom. You can view our blog at http://mrsteuchert.weebly.com/. You can also access our blog through the Tritt webpage by going to the 2nd grade section.
Please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns. I look forward to working with you and your new second grader!
Sincerely,
Carla Teuchert
