Our Learning Standards:
Math: Using Place Value to Subtract
MGSE2.NBT.7 and MGSE2.NBT.8
Consistently and independently subtracts within 1000 using concrete models or drawings and mentally adds or subtracts 10 or 100 to a given number between 100 - 900.
Reading/ELA- Ask and Answer Questions ELAGSE2RL1,2
Ask and answers such questions as who, what, when, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text.
Recount stories, including fables and folktales from diverse cultures, and determines their central message, lesson, or moral.
Phonics - ELAGSE2RF3
Unit 27 and 28: Prefixes un and re
unfair, unhappy, unafraid, unlikely, repaint, repay, regroup, recheck
Students will also review r-controlled vowel sounds.
Writing- ELACC2W3
Writes opinion pieces in which they introduce the topic or book they are writing about, state an opinion, supply reasons that support the opinion, use linking words (because/also), to connect opinion and reasons, and provide a concluding statement or section.
Students will publish their book reviews. Students will begin writing a detailed opinion piece on the topic of their choice.
Students will also practice rearranging and expanding sentences to add to sentence variety.
Social Studies - Review MLK Jr.
SS2G2 - Describe how were they influenced by their environments.
SS2H1 - List the contributions of these historical figures.
SS2CG3 - Explain the positive citizenship traits of each historical figure.
Science - S2E2. Students will investigate how shadows, moon phases, and length of day change over various time periods.
-Determine the effect of the sun and how shadows change throughout the day.
-Represent data in tables and/or graphs of the length of the day and night to recognize the change in seasons.
-Describes, illustrates, and predicts how the appearance of the moon changes over time.
STEAM-
1. Present STAR STEAM videos.
